Cndrll in a wijld interview …

Cndrll in a wijld interview …

„A great day begins with a smile, that's what I keep telling myself“. And we say that this is a philosophy of life that we like. Cindy, the artist behind Cndrll comes from Dresden and tells us more about herself in this interview, for example how she came up with her pseudonym.

wijld:
What is special about your style of design creation?
Cndrll:

I would say my style is simple and clean. Basically it's blackwork, which uses elements like dot and linework to create depth effects and different surfaces and shapes. I love floral themes and I could paint flowers all day long. I like to switch between a rather minimalistic style and detailed designs. I admire artists who play with colours and thus create wonderful designs. But besides a few exceptions I could stay true to my black and white style. I like the contrast that inevitably results from it and it makes a flower that is so rich in colour and gorgeous in nature, look just beautiful in ist simplicity.

wijld:
What should we know about you?
Cndrll:

I love pasta! But an also far more important topic to me is supporting social projects in Sudan, together with my husband. It‘s about supporting and educating women, their self-determination rights and also about the issue of circumcision, which is still practiced today. It'd be happy if more people would get active and involved in such topics. It is not self-evident how we live today and, unfortunately it is not given that today people all over the world have access to education and the right to self-determination. It would be nice if people would take some time to get to know other cultures and perhaps break down barriers. So that we can all help and support each other. If everyone would think about it and perhaps also question things then we could do something good

wijld:
How did you come to work as ...?
Cndrll:
I think I could draw even before I could hold a spoon. Or at least it was somehow like that. I already painted my Disney heroes in kindergarten, from Aladdin to „The Fox and the Hound“ to Snow White, everything was painted. It was like a central theme throughout my life until today. In school I always scribbled the tasks for my classmates in art lessons and later I added portrait drawings for friends and family. During my studies I made many anatomical drawings. Yes and today I have found my own niche. My love for flowers now dictates my style and I simply draw what I like : ) I work as a surgical assistant because already during school it was almost clear that later I would like to work in the healthcare sector. Since I am so interested in human anatomy and physiology and I find it incredibly interesting what has become possible through medicine and its progress. It fascinates me again and again how the human organism reacts and what it does. Yes, that's how it happened that I'm a scribbling surgical assistant who runs a small business with her 'art' in her spare time.

wijld:
What is your philosophy of life?
Cndrll:
A great day starts with a smile, this is what I keep telling myself. After all, with a little smile you can also give your counterpart a little bit of happiness. And I am absolutely convinced that if you leave the house early in the morning with a smile, the day is going to be great, no matter what is about to come. Surely we all know these rather not so good days: you miss the train, step into dog pooh, the boss is grumpy and and and and, but maybe there is someone who gives you a little smile, then it all looks much better again :)

wijld:
And finally: You design for wijld because ...
Cndrll:
I made my designs for wijld because I think it's great that people turn their visions into reality and stand up for something important such as sustainability and the protection of the environment, and with a great product like the WoodShirt it makes the whole thing also attractive to others. So it's super easy for everyone to make a small contribution to the environment and on top to get something cool for yourself which is a shirt that looks great, super comfortable and which is also fair made. Brand transparency is something that is very important to me, we should ask much more questions about where the products we use every day come from and whether they have been manufactured in such a way that we can use them with a good conscience. And wijld gives us exactly that. Aline and Timo have a fair product and they simply show where it comes from and how it is made. That makes wijld so likeable and that's why I love to be involed, I hope you do too!
