Socks that stay fresh and odor-free after long wear - that sounds almost too good to be true. But our sustainable socks made of wood can help with that. But how is that possible?
First, a short excursion into the world of sweating. This natural and vital process helps our body regulate its own temperature. As soon as we are physically active or the outside temperature rises, the body produces heat. To prevent overheating, it releases sweat onto the skin, where it evaporates and creates coolness.
Sweat consists mostly of water, but also contains various salts and organic compounds such as sodium, potassium, calcium, magnesium and chlorides, as well as small amounts of fatty acids and proteins. Surprisingly, sweat is mostly odorless. The unpleasant smell only arises when bacteria break down the sweat and produce butyric acid.
What you probably didn't know: Our feet produce a shot glass full of sweat every day. We probably don't like that, but bacteria find it extremely tasty. These microorganisms thrive in the moisture and cause unpleasant foot odor. This is where our wooden socks come into action. With their antibacterial effect, they absorb up to 380% of their own weight in moisture within the first 20 seconds, while cotton and polyester only manage 16-19%. By depriving the bacteria of their breeding ground, they ensure a fresh foot climate.
But our sustainable wooden socks can do more than just smell good. They are manufactured north of Porto in an environmentally friendly way and offer optimal comfort thanks to silky soft fibers and an extra soft sole. Our latest addition is tennis socks made of wood. Tennis socks are not only present on the tennis court or in the gym, but have now also become firmly established in the fashion world.
If you fancy some green footprints and want to put an end to smelly feet, then take a look at our socks.
And if you have any questions, we are always happy to help.
