Clothes often age faster when washed than when worn. This is where the principle of "less is more" comes into play - especially with our wood-based outfits, which stay fresh longer thanks to their antibacterial properties and need to be washed less often. But even our heroes need a little shower every now and then. With the right care, your clothes will stay beautiful and functional for a long time - and the environment benefits at the same time!
Sustainable Benefits of Wood Fibers, Wool and Cotton
Our clothing made from wood fibers offers great advantages not only in terms of comfort, but also in terms of care. Basics made from wood are very breathable and even wick away moisture so quickly that they deprive bacteria of a breeding ground. This prevents unpleasant odors and your clothes stay fresher for longer. Less washing not only means less effort, but also a longer lifespan for your favorite pieces!
Washing Tips for Wool & Cotton
- Wool clothing : The motto "air instead of wash" applies here in particular. Wool largely cleans itself by neutralizing odors and absorbing and releasing moisture. If you do want to wash your wool items, we recommend hand washing at a low temperature to protect the fibers.
- Cotton : Cotton is also easy to care for and durable if washed gently. Since it also releases moisture well, a low spin cycle and air drying is often sufficient to protect the fibers and ensure long durability.
Care for your Wijld clothing: step by step
Our WoodShirts and wood-based textiles also stay fresher for longer thanks to their natural properties. When it's time to wash, follow these tips to extend their lifespan:
- Wash at 30 degrees: Today's detergents are real cleaning professionals - 30°C is enough to get your clothes clean. This protects the fibers and saves energy.
- Gentle spin: Choose a gentle spin cycle that is more like a slow waltz than a wild rock 'n' roll. At around 600 rpm, clothes will stay in shape longer and will not be subjected to unnecessary wear and tear.
- No fabric softener and no dryer: Our fibers do not need fabric softener - they are naturally soft and dry quickly in the air. So you can safely do without the dryer.
The Detergent Walk of Fame
Which detergent is suitable for which material? Here is a brief overview:
- Heavy-duty detergent : Perfect for light laundry as it contains bleach and optical brighteners.
- Color detergent : For colored clothes, without bleach to preserve the colors.
- Delicate detergent : Gentle and pH-neutral, without aggressive enzymes – ideal for sensitive fibres such as wood fibres and wool.
We recommend using a mild detergent for your Wijld clothing. If the clothes are heavily soiled, a color detergent is the better choice as it offers gentle but effective cleaning.
Insider tip for zippers and storage
Make sure to close all zippers before washing - this will keep the fabric intact and avoid minor damage. It is best to air dry your clothes so that they stay beautiful for a long time and the fibers are not unnecessarily stressed.
With these care tips, your wijld clothing will remain beautiful and functional in the long term, while protecting the environment at the same time. Sustainable washing can be so easy!
