The path to the fiber – the foundation of our clothing
For this to become a fabric that feels like magic on the skin, it requires a journey that is longer and more mysterious than many believe.
We start with the fiber – and with care. Because wood fiber is not just wood fiber. Each type brings its own strengths: sometimes exceptionally soft, sometimes particularly robust. Which fiber is best suited for which purpose is determined through extensive tests, analyses by our experts, and experience from many previous developments.
From tree to yarn – high-tech meets nature
In the second step, the yarn is created. But even here: yarn is not just yarn. Spinning techniques like ring-spun yarn, compact yarn, or air-jet yarn each have their own unique properties.
At wijld, we use exactly the yarn that delivers the best performance depending on the product – because especially with blended fabrics, the perfect composition determines quality, comfort, and durability.
For this, we often rely on so-called "blends": wood fibers combined with certified organic cotton. This creates flowing, pleasantly soft fabrics that are also easy to care for, durable, and long-lasting.
Knitting & weaving – where fabric truly comes to life
Yarn alone does not make fabric. Only through knitting or weaving does the material come to life – and this process is more complex than you might think.
Whether fine jersey for our WoodShirts®, sturdy sweatshirt fabric for hoodies, or stretchy blends for leggings: each type of fabric requires different stitch densities, tensions, and finishing processes.
We develop together with partners who are willing to explore new paths with us – even if that means tinkering, testing, and starting over for months. Because often fabrics are created that have never existed exactly like this before.
Every variant is meticulously tested:

The finishing – the final touch
In the end, the fabric is refined – a crucial step that goes far beyond simple dyeing. We emphasize the natural softness, preserve breathability, minimize pilling, and support odor-resistant properties.
This is where it’s decided whether a shirt is just “okay” – or becomes a true wijld favorite.
Good things take... patience
All of this takes time. Half a year? Often more. Sometimes the result comes back with the note: "Not good enough yet." Then we start again – with a bit more experience and the firm will to make it even better.
Because our fabrics are not produced in a rush, but out of conviction. And you can feel exactly that: a little more with every wear.
