At wijld, everything begins with a decision: wood – an ancient, living raw material. A wonder of nature that breathes, grows, and endures – when used respectfully. That is what sustainable forestry makes possible: looking at the bigger picture rather than focusing on individual parts. The forest remains intact, and its diversity is preserved.
The journey to the fiber – the foundation of our clothing
To create a fabric that feels like magic against your skin, it takes a journey that is longer and more mysterious than many people realize.
We start with the fiber – and do so thoughtfully. Because not all wood fiber is the same. Each type has its own strengths: sometimes exceptionally soft, sometimes particularly robust. We determine which fiber is best suited to each application through extensive testing, analyses by our experts, and the experience gained from many previous developments.
From tree to yarn – high-tech meets nature
The yarn is created in the second step. But here too, not all yarn is the same. Spinning techniques such as ring-spun, compact, and air-jet yarn each have their own distinct characteristics.
At wijld, we use exactly the yarn that delivers the best performance for each product – because especially in blended fabrics, the perfect composition determines quality, comfort, and durability.
For this, we often turn to so-called “blends”: wood fibers combined with certified organic cotton. This creates fluid, pleasantly soft fabrics that are also easy to care for, durable, and long-lasting.
Knitting & weaving—where fabric really comes to life
Yarn alone does not make a fabric. It is only through knitting or weaving that the material takes shape—and this process is more complex than you might think.
Whether it’s fine jersey for our WoodShirts®, sturdy sweatshirt fabric for hoodies, or stretchy blends for leggings: each type of fabric requires different stitch densities, tensions, and finishing processes.
We develop fabrics together with partners who are willing to explore new paths with us—even if that means tinkering, testing, and starting over for months. Because fabrics often emerge that have never existed in exactly this form before.
Every variant is meticulously tested:

✔ Feel against the skin
Only when everything is perfectly harmonized do we move on.
Finishing—the final touch
Finally, the fabric is finished—a crucial step that goes far beyond simply dyeing it. We emphasize its natural softness, preserve breathability, minimize pilling, and support its odor-inhibiting properties.
This is where it’s decided whether a shirt is merely “okay”—or becomes a true wijld favorite.
Good things take… patience
All of this takes time. Six months? Often longer. Sometimes the result comes back with the note: “Not good enough yet.” Then we start again—with a little more experience and the firm determination to make it even better.
Because our fabrics aren’t made on an assembly line, but out of conviction. And you can feel exactly that: a little more with every wear.
