WOODEN FASHION SINCE 2015

TIMELESS AND MINIMALIST FASHION SINCE 2015

Since 2015, we’ve proudly been “on the wood path” - driven by a desire to create timeless, minimalist fashion that’s as eco-friendly as possible. To achieve this, we use wood, an exceptionally sustainable raw material that’s also incredibly cozy and soft - even if it might sound surprising at first.

HOW SUSTAINABLE FASHION GOT ON THE WORST TRACK

The story of sustainable fashion made from wood started in early 2015, when Timo visited an international toy fair—and found himself quite literally swallowed by a colorful plastic world.

One seller summed it up bluntly: “Toys need to be colorful and cheap. Kids only play with them briefly before they’re thrown away.”

Perplexed by this disposable mindset, Timo began digging deeper into product life cycles and how quickly everyday items are discarded. His conclusion? We need a more mindful and resource-conscious approach to how things are made. While exploring sustainable materials, he discovered that wood fibers can be transformed into fabric and was instantly hooked. That moment sparked the birth of wijld.

Today, wijld has grown into a passionate team of more than 10 people. And our collections go far beyond WoodShirts—they now include socks, hoodies, underwear, sportswear, joggers, and much more.

WHAT MOTIVATES US TO PRODUCE ECOLOGICAL CLOTHING

There are countless reasons that motivate us every morning to pour our energy into crafting your favorite wood-based garments.
Above all, we love nature—and when you realize that just one of our T-shirts saves around 1,000 liters of water, 150 ml of chemicals, and 75% CO₂ emissions compared to a conventional cotton shirt… that’s motivation enough.

By producing just north of Porto in Portugal, we ensure every piece is made fairly and ethically.
Because for us, it’s not only about protecting the environment—it’s about honoring the incredible people who bring each garment to life with energy, care, and true craftsmanship. By keeping our production within the EU, we also cut down transport routes—reducing emissions and keeping our supply chain transparent.

We want to create change together with you, and show as clearly as possible how our wood-based fashion is made.
These behind-the-scenes glimpses offer insight into the many thoughtful steps involved—because we’re not interested in anonymous fashion. We’re here to create beloved pieces that stay with you for years to come.
