WHAT IS VEGAN CLOTHING?
Vegan clothing contains no animal products or by-products. Vegan garments are therefore made from either plant-based or chemically produced materials. However, we believe that if you want to do something good for the environment and animals, you should choose plant-based alternatives first! Why? It’s simple! Synthetic fibers such as polyamide, polyester, nylon or acrylic are ultimately plastics made from petroleum and are not biodegradable. In other words, new plastic is constantly being produced. What’s more, it has been proven that plastics enter the food chain, cause illness in animals and humans, and can also cause infertility.
With wijld Wood Shirts, tank tops, long-sleeved shirts, and sweaters, we offer you an alternative that’s both fair and environmentally friendly, and completely free of animal-derived materials. We’ve made sure that the entire production chain, from the yarn to the fabric to the finished T-shirt, is vegan.
PROTECT NATURE WITH VEGAN T-SHIRTS
It is important to us to make the production of our vegan clothing as environmentally and animal-friendly as possible. This is also one of the reasons why we chose wood as a raw material. This makes our clothing very environmentally friendly, since this raw material also grows in our region, greatly shortening transportation distances. It also significantly reduces water consumption and completely eliminates the need for harmful chemicals such as fertilizers or pesticides. From 2015 to 2021, together with a partner organization, we planted a tree in Mexico for every order placed on wijld.com.
Since 2022, we have set up our own small reforestation project and are restoring a section of forest in the Sauerland that was destroyed by climate change. This allows us not only to get involved locally, but also to make the topic of forests much more tangible and plant trees on site together with customers or school classes. We can also better document how our forest is developing and show how important it is to treat nature responsibly.
When you choose a wood-based vegan garment from wijld, you also directly protect a piece of forest, because for every order we reforest 0.6 m² of forest and protect it for the long term.
