FRESH AND ODOR-FREE

FRISCH UND GERUCHSFREI

Socks that stay fresh and odor-free after being worn for a long time sound almost too good to be true. But our sustainable socks made from wood can help. How is that possible?

First, a brief excursion into the world of sweating. This natural and essential process helps our bodies regulate their own temperature. As soon as we become physically active or the outside temperature rises, the body produces heat. To prevent overheating, it releases sweat onto the skin, where it evaporates and creates a cooling effect.

Sweat consists mostly of water, but it also contains various salts and organic compounds such as sodium, potassium, calcium, magnesium, and chlorides, as well as small amounts of fatty acids and proteins. Surprisingly, sweat is usually odorless. The unpleasant smell only develops when bacteria break down the sweat and produce butyric acid in the process.

What you probably didn’t know: Our feet produce a shot glass full of sweat every day. We probably don’t all love that, but bacteria find it extremely appealing. These microorganisms thrive in the moisture and cause unpleasant foot odor. That’s where our wood socks come into play. Thanks to their antibacterial effect, they absorb up to 380% of their own weight in moisture within the first 20 seconds, while cotton and polyester only reach 16–19%. By depriving bacteria of their breeding ground, they ensure a fresh foot climate.

But our sustainable wood socks do more than just smell good. They are manufactured north of Porto in an environmentally friendly way and offer optimal comfort thanks to their silky-soft fibers and extra-soft sole. Our latest addition is wood-based tennis socks. Tennis socks are not only worn on the tennis court or in the gym; they have also become firmly established in the fashion world.

If you’re ready to leave a few green footprints and put an end to smelly feet, take a look through our socks.

And if you have any questions, we are always happy to help.
