But now we are opening a new chapter: Our mission to create sustainable fashion is moving to the next level – with recycled materials. In our latest knitwear collection, we are using recycled wool and recycled cotton for the first time.
Shaping the future with fashion
Unfortunately, the fashion industry is not known for conserving resources and reducing waste. Over 80 billion new garments are produced annually, most of which are discarded far too quickly. That’s exactly why we advocate for more conscious consumption and have been using wood as a raw material since 2015, which allows us to save 75% of CO2 emissions compared to cotton.
Why recycled materials?
By using recycled materials, we continue to help conserve resources. Old textiles and cuttings that would otherwise end up in the trash are given a second life with us. Through a complex recycling process, we transform them into high-quality sweaters that keep you warm throughout the winter.
We have already developed a fabric using recycled materials for our SportShirts. On the inside, we use recycled polyester, which, thanks to its closed fibers, keeps you dry and prevents cooling down during sports. The wood-based fiber on the outside wicks moisture away from the body and releases it again. This combination not only makes the sports shirt work optimally but also ensures it is made in a very resource-friendly way.
New paths: recycled wool and organic cotton
Now, for the first time, we are using only fibers without combining wood. Why? We wanted to explore new ways and see how we can alternatively create sustainable favorite pieces. The result: Together with our partners, we have developed knitwear made from recycled wool and recycled organic cotton that reflect our values.
Experience recycling up close
For men, we have designed cozy and warm sweaters in three colors, available with either crew neck or turtleneck collars, made from 100% recycled wool.
For women, we offer beautiful sweaters with crew neck or V-neck, made from 50% recycled cotton and 50% organic cotton. These models also come in three irresistible colors.
Why not 100% recycled cotton?
And if you’re wondering why not 100% recycled cotton at this point… here’s the explanation. Unlike wool, cotton fibers become too short during the recycling process. Short fibers cause the material to be less durable and pilling to occur more quickly. To avoid this and ensure good quality, new material is blended in with fibers like cotton or cellulose-based fibers, significantly extending the lifespan. After all, not only do we enjoy our favorite pieces lasting a long time, but Mother Nature does too.
