THE FEATURES OF WOODEN CLOTHING

Even if "clothing made of wood" may sound strange and scratchy at first, our WoodShirts, tank tops, long-sleeved shirts, boxer shorts, socks and hoodies are actually made of a super soft material. In addition to many ecological advantages, it also offers unique properties and optimal comfort. In short: we create woody clothing with a feel-good factor. We would be happy to explain to you in more detail what these unique properties are and why fashion made of wood is so comfortable to wear.

BREATHABLE

The fibers of our wooden clothing can absorb moisture much faster than cotton or polyester.

TEMPERATURE BALANCING

Thanks to its ideal moisture management, wooden clothing supports the body's own temperature regulation.

Antibacterial

Clothing made of wood has up to 100 to 1000 times less bacterial growth than synthetic materials.

SILKY-SOFT

The surface of wooden clothing is particularly smooth and skin-friendly and helps to avoid irritation.

WHY WOODEN FASHION IS SO SILKY SOFT

Our skin reacts differently to the environment depending on our skin type. In addition to external environmental influences, such as the sun, our skin can of course also react to textiles. Many people complain of intolerance to various textiles, as their rough surface causes itching and irritation. People with neurodermatitis in particular often have problems with the skin tolerance of certain fibers.

SILKY-SOFT FABRIC

Smooth fiber structure ensures optimal wearing comfort

The wood fibers in our clothing have a particularly skin-friendly and smooth surface that flatters the skin instead of irritating it. This means there is less friction on the skin, which is why our wooden clothing feels like a second skin. In a study by Heidelberg University Hospital, over 80% of the test subjects said that their skin's appearance had improved significantly after wearing wood fibers and that both the skin's sensory and thermoregulatory properties were impressive.

WOODEN FABRIC – THERMOREGULATING AND BREATHABLE

The reason why we find fabrics pleasant is not only the way they feel but also the climate on our skin. The extent to which fabrics regulate temperature has a major influence on how comfortable we feel. In summer or when we exert ourselves, our body temperature rises and so does our sweat production. The body is cooled by the evaporation of sweat on the surface of the skin. When we exert ourselves heavily, people can lose up to 1.8 liters per hour in this way. The requirement for body-hugging textiles is therefore to ensure quick and even water transport in order to support the body's own cooling effect. A high water absorption capacity and a high absorption speed are therefore crucial.

In fact, wood fibers - as we use them for our sustainable clothing - have a much higher water capacity and absorption rate than cotton or polyester. The maximum absorption capacity within 20 seconds for wood fibers is an impressive 380%, while for cotton and polyester it is just 16 to 19%. The special nanostructure of wood fibers ensures that moisture is quickly transported and absorbed into the fiber interior. It therefore officially contributes to thermoregulation by enabling optimal evaporation on the fabric surface via a homogeneous liquid distribution. The drying behavior of wood fibers can also keep up with that of conventional fibers. Although many people believe that polyester fabrics dry faster than others, there is no difference in the drying kinetics between polyester and wood fibers if the amount of moisture in the fabric is assumed to be the same. It is also important to mention at this point that polyester fibers are closed and therefore cannot absorb moisture, so that the moisture only remains on the surface.

TEMPERATURE BALANCING

Cools in summer, warms in winter

Wood fibers have very special thermophysiological properties. This means that our clothing offers very good thermal insulation in cold weather. At the same time, when it is warm or when you are physically active, sweat is removed from the body and released into the environment to optimally support the cooling of the body.

WHY ARE WOODSHIRTS ODOR-INHIBITING?

There are numerous microorganisms on our skin that are important for our skin flora. When we sweat, the microorganisms can multiply due to the moisture, start to work and the smell of sweat develops. The bacteria naturally get into the fabric through skin contact and sweat. It is sometimes extremely difficult to remove these smells from textiles, and this problem is particularly common with sportswear made of polyester fabrics.

ANTI-BACTERIAL

Stays fresh longer due to reduced odor formation

The fabric of our clothing made from wood stays fresh longer because it inhibits bacterial growth. If you compare synthetic materials, cotton and our wood fiber, you will find that synthetic materials have 100 to 1,000 times more bacterial growth, and on cotton the growth is still 10 times higher than on our wood-based fabric. The reason for this is that with other fibers the water stays on the fiber surface, where it is fully accessible to bacteria. With wood fiber, on the other hand, the water is almost completely absorbed into the fiber, which deprives the bacteria of a breeding ground. In addition, bacteria are less able to adhere to the smooth fiber surface than with synthetic fibers or cotton.

Because the wood fiber can better remove moisture, the bacteria are deprived of the nutrients they need and bacterial growth is inhibited. This special antibacterial property of the wood fiber means that our wooden clothing stays fresher for longer and you can simply wear our WoodShirts for longer without having to deal with unpleasant odors.
