CARE
With the right care, you can wear your new favorite pieces for a long time, protecting not only resources but also your clothing. And the best part? You don’t have to wash them as often as you might think!
Clothing made from wood fibers, as well as wool, offers natural benefits: both materials absorb moisture and release it quickly into the air. This creates a dry wearing experience and unpleasant odors develop much more slowly. Your clothes stay fresh longer—without frequent washing. This saves water and energy, reduces care effort, and at the same time extends the lifespan of your favorite pieces.
Quick note: Our wool garments require slightly different care than, for example, our WoodShirts.
For clothing made from recycled wool: air out instead of washing! Wool absorbs moisture, releases it again, and stays pleasantly fresh for a long time. Often, it’s enough to air out the garment well after wearing. If washing is necessary, we recommend hand washing or a gentle wool cycle at a low temperature to keep the fibers looking good for longer.
The right care for a long lifespan
Even though our clothing stays fresh longer, eventually it’s time for the washing machine. With these eco-friendly care tips, you’ll enjoy your shirts and sweaters for even longer:
Wash at 30 °C
Gentle temperatures are completely sufficient to get your clothes clean. This protects the fibers and saves energy at the same time.
Choose a low spin speed
Low spin speeds reduce wear and help protect the fibers in the long term.
No fabric softener & no tumble dryer
Wood fibers as well as organic and recycled cotton are naturally soft and don’t need fabric softener. Since our materials release moisture quickly back into the environment, your clothes dry quickly in the air. This way, you can skip the dryer and further extend the lifespan of your favorite pieces.

MATERIAL & MANUFACTURING
What makes our clothing so special is, on the one hand, the unique wearing comfort and the exceptional properties of wood fibers, and on the other hand, our environmentally friendly production. But besides wood, we also use other sustainable fibers for our favorite pieces.
Here is an overview:
Wood Fibers
1. Production
With wood, we rely on a raw material that is native to our region, thus avoiding long transport routes. The wood for our eco-friendly clothing also comes exclusively from sustainable forestry. Compared to cotton, the use of wood is more ecological in many ways:
- No additional fertilizers or large amounts of water for irrigation are needed: For example, we save 1,000 liters of water with just one WoodShirt
- 3-4 times less cultivation area is required to achieve the same fiber yield as cotton
- The CO² emissions during the production of our wood fiber can be reduced by a factor of 20
- The fiber production operates in a closed material cycle using an organic solvent that is continuously recycled.
You can read more about the advantages of our wood fiber production here.
2. Functions
Wood fibers, in our case almost exclusively Lyocell, not only provide a great feel on the skin but also have many positive properties:
- Due to their quick moisture absorption, wood fibers have a temperature-regulating effect. They cool in summer and warm in winter
- Since wood fibers wick moisture better, they inhibit bacterial growth and thus give wood clothing antibacterial properties. This means they stay fresh longer
- The smooth fiber structure of wood fibers provides a silky-soft wearing sensation, reducing friction on the skin and thus preventing itching and irritation
Organic Cotton
For our wood clothing, we usually use a small proportion of organic cotton to offer both women and men perfect wearing comfort. Wood fiber alone results in a fabric that is too silky and drapes very fluidly (without proper shape), which is usually not suitable for men. By using organic cotton, we can give our wood clothing more stability and thus ensure optimal comfort.
It is very important to us that only cotton from controlled organic cultivation is used. This allows us to avoid the use of chemical pesticides and fertilizers. Additionally, the water consumption in the production of organic cotton is lower than that of conventional cotton.
Among others, we have processed organic cotton from Greece, India, and Tanzania. In general, we always try to choose the shortest possible routes, knowing that cotton does not grow in our climate zone.
Recycled Cotton
Another component of our sustainable collections is the use of recycled cotton. Instead of consuming new resources, we use fibers from old textiles and production leftovers to create high-quality fabric for our garments. However, we only use recycled cotton in a blend. But why don’t we use 100% recycled cotton? During the recycling process, cotton fibers become shorter, which can affect durability and strength. To compensate for this and ensure high quality, we combine recycled cotton with other cotton. This way, we create a durable favorite piece that helps reduce waste and conserve resources.
Recycled Polyester
We mainly use recycled polyester in our functional and sports shirts. Recycled polyester is made from old plastic bottles and other plastic waste, which are processed into new, high-performance fibers. These closed fibers cannot absorb moisture. In the sports shirts, they ensure that moisture is quickly transported away from the body on the inside and absorbed and released again by the outer wood fiber. The result is a functional fabric that is breathable, temperature-regulating, and environmentally friendly at the same time. Using recycled materials also protects the environment, as producing recycled polyester requires significantly less energy than producing new polyester.
Recycled Wool
For some of our favorite pieces, we use recycled wool. Instead of producing new wool fibers, we rely on upcycling old wool textiles or production waste, which are carefully processed into new, high-quality yarns. This process not only saves raw materials but also significantly reduces the energy and water consumption that normally occurs in the production of new wool. Recycled wool offers the same natural properties as fresh wool – it is breathable, temperature-regulating, and incredibly warm – all with a smaller ecological footprint.

Our wooden T-shirts are so pleasantly soft that they feel like a second skin. Thanks to their breathable fibers, they ensure an optimal skin climate. Perfect for you – and for nature.

The natural properties of our clothing made from wood help prevent unpleasant odors from developing in the first place. The result? A fresh wearing experience that accompanies you throughout the entire day.

Wood is not only a raw material that is native to our region, but forests also do not require artificial irrigation. Compared to a cotton T-shirt, we save the equivalent of 8 bathtubs full of water or 20 cases of water.

With every order, you support our reforestation project in Sauerland. Since 2022, we have been transforming over 81,000 m² of barren land into a vibrant forest, creating a valuable habitat for animals and plants.
