CARE
With the right care, you can enjoy wearing your new favorite pieces for a long time while protecting not only resources but also your clothes. And the best part? You don’t have to wash them as often as you might think!
Natural benefits really shine through with clothes made from wood fibers, and wool too: Both materials have antibacterial properties and release moisture back into the air quickly. This deprives bacteria of the conditions they need to thrive, prevents odors, and keeps your clothes fresh for longer. Washing less often means less effort and a longer lifespan for your clothes - and that applies to all the other materials in your wardrobe, too!
A quick note: Our garments containing wool need different care than, for example, our WoodShirts.
When it comes to recycled wool clothing, air it out instead of washing it! Wool largely cleans itself by neutralizing odors and absorbing and releasing moisture. If you do need to wash your wool garments, we recommend hand-washing them at a low temperature to protect the fibers.
The right care for a long lifespan
Even though our clothes stay fresh for longer, eventually they’ll need a wash. To help you enjoy your sweaters and shirts for as long as possible, we recommend these environmentally friendly care tips:
- Wash at 30 degrees
Gentle temperatures are all you need to get your clothes clean. This not only protects the fibers but also saves energy. - Use a low spin cycle
Low spin speeds protect delicate fibers and reduce wear. - No fabric softener or tumble dryer
Neither wood fibers nor organic cotton or recycled cotton need fabric softener. They’re naturally soft and comfortable to wear. And since our materials release moisture quickly, your clothes will dry in no time in the air - so you can skip the tumble dryer. Tumble dryers also shorten the lifespan of your favorite pieces.

MATERIAL & PRODUCTION
What makes our clothing so special is, on the one hand, the unique feel and properties of wood fibers and, on the other, our environmentally friendly manufacturing. But alongside wood, we also use other sustainable fibers in our favorite pieces.
Here’s an overview:
Wood Fibers
1. Production
By using wood, we rely on a raw material that is native to our region, avoiding long transport routes. The wood for our eco-friendly clothing also comes exclusively from sustainably managed forests. Compared with cotton, using wood is more environmentally friendly in many ways:
- There’s no need for additional fertilizers or large amounts of irrigation water: for example, we save 1,000 liters of water with just one WoodShirt
- 3-4 times less land is needed to produce the same amount of fiber as cotton
- Producing our wood fiber can reduce CO² emissions by a factor of 20
- The fiber is produced in a closed-loop process using an organic solvent that is recycled again and again.
You can read more about the benefits of our wood fiber production here.
2. Properties
Wood fibers, in our case almost exclusively Lyocell, feel great against the skin and have many other positive properties:
- Because they absorb moisture quickly, wood fibers help regulate temperature. They keep you cool in summer and warm in winter
- Because wood fibers wick away moisture more effectively, they inhibit bacterial growth, giving wood-based clothing antibacterial properties. This helps it stay fresh for longer
- The smooth structure of wood fibers creates a silky-soft feel, reducing friction against the skin and helping prevent itching and irritation
Organic Cotton
We usually use a small amount of organic cotton in our wood-based clothing to ensure a comfortable fit for both women and men. Wood fiber on its own creates a fabric that is too silky and drapes very fluidly (without the right shape), making it unsuitable for most men. Adding organic cotton gives our wood-based clothing more structure and ensures a comfortable feel.
It’s very important to us that we use only cotton from certified organic farming. This allows us to avoid chemical pesticides and fertilizers. Organic cotton production also uses less water than conventional cotton production.
We have used organic cotton from Greece, India, and Tanzania, among other places. In general, we always try to choose the shortest possible transport routes, knowing that cotton does not grow in our climate zone.
Recycled Cotton
Another component of our sustainable collections is recycled cotton. Rather than using new resources, we use fibers from old textiles and production scraps to create high-quality fabric for our garments. However, we only use recycled cotton in a blend. So why don’t we use 100% recycled cotton? The recycling process shortens the cotton fibers, which can affect durability and strength. To offset this and ensure high quality, we combine recycled cotton with cotton, among other fibers. This lets us create a long-lasting favorite piece for you that helps reduce waste and conserve resources.
Recycled Polyester
We mainly use recycled polyester in our performance and sports shirts. Recycled polyester is made from old plastic bottles and other plastic waste, which are processed into new, high-performance fibers. These closed fibers cannot absorb moisture. In our sports shirts, they help transport moisture quickly away from the body on the inside, where it can be absorbed and released by the wood fiber on the outside. The result is a performance fabric that is breathable, temperature-regulating, and environmentally friendly. Using recycled materials also helps protect the environment, since producing recycled polyester requires significantly less energy than making new polyester.
Recycled Wool
We use recycled wool in some of our favorite pieces. Rather than producing new wool fibers, we upcycle old wool textiles and production waste, carefully processing them into new, high-quality yarns. This process not only saves raw materials, but also significantly reduces the energy and water consumption normally required to produce new wool. Recycled wool offers the same natural properties as virgin wool—it’s breathable, temperature-regulating, and incredibly warm—all with a smaller environmental footprint.
