CARE
With the right care, you can wear your new favourite pieces for a long time, protecting not only resources but also your clothing. And the best part? You don’t have to wash them as often as you might think!
Especially with clothing made from wood fibres, but also with wool, natural benefits come into play: Both materials have antibacterial properties and quickly release moisture back into the air. This deprives bacteria of their breeding ground, prevents odours, and keeps your clothing fresh for longer. Washing less not only means less effort but also a longer lifespan for your clothes – this applies to all other materials in your wardrobe as well!
Briefly in advance: Our garments containing wool need to be cared for differently than, for example, our WoodShirts.
For clothing made from recycled wool, the rule is: air out instead of washing! Wool largely cleans itself by neutralising odours and absorbing and releasing moisture. If you do need to wash your woollen items, it is best to wash them by hand and at a low temperature to protect the fibres.
The right care for a long lifespan
Even though our clothing stays fresh longer, it will eventually need to go in the washing machine. To enjoy your jumpers and shirts for as long as possible, we recommend these environmentally friendly care tips:
- Wash at 30 degrees
Gentle temperatures are more than enough to get your clothes clean. This not only protects the fibres but also saves energy. - Use a low spin cycle
Low speeds protect delicate fibres and reduce wear. - No fabric softener & tumble dryer
Both wood fibres as well as organic cotton and recycled cotton do not need fabric softener. They are naturally soft and pleasant to wear. And since our materials release moisture quickly, your clothes dry quickly in the air – so you can skip the tumble dryer. For tumble dryers also unfortunately shorten the lifespan of your favourite pieces.
SHIPPING & RETURNS
Your order will be sent within Germany using DHL-Service GoGreen. However, we also deliver to many other countries. Which these are, what exactly the shipping costs are, and from which order value they are waived, you can read here.
An item does not fit you, or you do not like the colour? No problem at all, because for such cases we have our return portal. Here you can read how to send an item back to us and which conditions you must observe.
MATERIAL & PRODUCTION
What makes our clothing so special is, on the one hand, the unique wearing comfort and the distinctive qualities of wood fibres, and on the other hand, our environmentally friendly production. But besides wood, we also use other sustainable fibres for our favourite pieces.
Here is an overview:
Wood fibres
1. Production
With wood, we rely on a raw material that is native to our region, thus avoiding long transport routes. The wood for our eco-friendly clothing also comes exclusively from sustainable forestry. The use of wood is ecologically superior to cotton in many respects:
- No additional fertilisers or large amounts of water for irrigation are needed: For example, we save 1,000 litres of water with just one WoodShirt
- 3-4 times less cultivation area is required to achieve the same fibre yield as with cotton
- The CO² emissions in the production of our wood fibre can be reduced by a factor of 20
- The fibre production works in a closed material cycle, using an organic solvent that is continuously recycled.
You can read more about the advantages of our wood fibre production here.
2. Functions
Wood fibres, in our case almost exclusively lyocell, not only provide a great feeling on the skin, but also have many positive properties:
- Due to rapid moisture absorption, wood fibres have a temperature-regulating effect. They cool in summer and warm in winter
- Since wood fibres transport moisture better, bacterial growth is inhibited, giving clothing made from wood antibacterial properties. This means it stays fresh longer
- The smooth fibre structure of wood fibres provides a silky-soft wearing sensation, which reduces friction on the skin and thus prevents itching and irritation
Organic cotton
In our clothing made from wood, we usually use a small proportion of organic cotton to offer both women and men perfect wearing comfort. Wood fibre alone results in a fabric that is far too silky, which (without proper shape) drapes very fluidly and is therefore usually not suitable for men. By using organic cotton, we can give our clothing made from wood more stability and thus ensure an optimal wearing experience.
It is very important to us that only cotton from controlled organic cultivation is used. This allows us to avoid the use of chemical pesticides and fertilisers. In addition, the water consumption in the production of organic cotton is lower than that of conventional cotton.
Among others, we have processed organic cotton from Greece, India, and Tanzania. In general, however, we always try to choose the shortest possible routes, knowing full well that cotton does not grow in our climate zone.
Recycled cotton
Another component of our sustainable collections is the use of recycled cotton. Instead of consuming new resources, we use fibres from old textiles and production leftovers to create high-quality fabric for our garments. However, we only use recycled cotton in a blend. But why don’t we use 100% recycled cotton? During the recycling process, the cotton fibres become shorter, which can affect durability and strength. To compensate for this and at the same time ensure high quality, we combine recycled cotton with other cotton. This way, we create a long-lasting favourite piece that helps avoid waste and conserve resources.
Recycled polyester
We mainly use recycled polyester in our functional and sports shirts. Recycled polyester is made from old plastic bottles and other plastic waste, which are processed into new, high-performance fibres. These closed fibres cannot absorb moisture. In the sports shirts, they ensure on the inside that moisture is quickly transported away from the body and can be absorbed and released again by the wood fibre on the outside. The result is a functional fabric that is breathable, temperature-regulating, and at the same time environmentally friendly. The use of recycled materials also protects the environment, as the production of recycled polyester requires significantly less energy than the production of new polyester.
Recycled wool
In some of our favourite pieces, we use recycled wool. Instead of producing new wool fibres, we rely on upcycling old wool textiles or production waste, which are carefully processed and spun into new, high-quality yarns. This process not only saves raw materials but also significantly reduces the energy and water consumption that normally occurs in the production of new wool. Recycled wool offers the same natural properties as fresh wool – it is breathable, temperature-regulating, and incredibly warm – all with a smaller ecological footprint.
